Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. More than 20 albums have been released by her. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk and alternative rock but includes influence from hip beat and jazz. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement, and was among the first artists to create her own label 1990. DiFranco was a born on 23rd September, 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Dante Americo DiFranco. Both her parents were both of Montreal origin. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the hit song "32 Flavors". It is a track from her album Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio album. The song is featured on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romantic drama Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologised in 2013 when it was reported that she planned to host a three day workshop at an Louisiana plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco offered a second apology days later. Although she is best known by the name of Little Folksinger. Her work encompasses many different styles. The collaborators she has with her vary from Pete Seeger and Chuck D to Prince. The singer lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is a friend of Kristen Ford. At 14, she began to write her own music. The songs she performed in bar and cafes in her teens. DiFranco was a graduate of The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school in the year 16 and started attending courses at Buffalo State College. The new baritone she got was created by custom Alvarez guitar, designed by Chrys Johnston, who at the time was the Alvarez Artist Rep. It has their System 600 preamp and has all solid woods--a top of mahogany, a cedar top and sides and an fretboard made of ebony. The owner is a resident of New Orleans, with her family, which includes her husband and two kids. Lefty is their dog companion who comes and goes when she speaks. DiFranco has admitted she is experiencing mixed emotions about her previous career which spans more than three decades. The singer and songwriter from the punk/folk genre Ani DiFranco achieved musical hero standing at 25 with both the public as well as critics, with her seventh release Not A Pretty Girl in 1995 and even greater popular success in the year 1996 with Dilate the following year.
