Lita Rossana Ford Also known as Lita Ford, is an American guitar player and singer born in Britain. She was a lead guitarist as a member of The Runaways, a hard-rock band made up of all females in the late 1970s. Their punk rock music and provocative lyrics helped them get recognized by the rock world. The group was not able to achieve major success in The United States but earned huge popularity overseas especially in Japan. Ford began a heavy metal solo career when the group broke up in 1979. After taking voice lessons, Ford released her first single album "Out for Blood" followed by "Dancin at the Edge". Ford failed to make much with either album and was largely absent from the world of rock for 10 years. It was 1988 when she debuted her most successful album "Lita". The hit single 'Kiss Me Deadly' and the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever were both major success. However, her success was only not long-lasting and, for a few additional years she was absent. Her release of Black in 1995 was followed by 15-year wait for 'Wicked Wonderland. The album she released most recently "Time Capsule" was launched in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine awarded her the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
