Lita Rossana Ford (also commonly referred to by the name Lita Ford) is an British born American singer on guitar who took the role of lead singer of The Runaways a female hard rock group from the 1970s. They gained attention for their provocative songs and punk-rock fashion. The group failed to gain a lot of attention on the scene in the United States but earned huge recognition abroad, particularly in Japan. Ford began a heavy metal solo career following the band's ended in 1979. Her debut album as a solo artist was called 'Dancin' on the Edge, followed by her album Out for Blood. Ford vanished for some years from the music scene following the albums' failure to get any attention. Ford returned to the scene in 1988 with her wildly successful album 'Lita which was released in 1988. The lead track "Kiss me Deadly" and ballad "Close My Eyes forever" were huge hits. Unfortunately, the success of her career was not lasting and over the course of several years she went under the radar. The album's release Black in 1995 was followed by a fifteen-year delay for the album 'Wicked Wonderland. The year 2016 brought the release of her latest album of studio work "Time Capsule". Her name was given The Certified Guitar Legend Award by the Guitar Player Magazine.
