Lita Rossana Ford (also known as Lita Ford) is a British born American guitar vocalist who played the lead for The Runaways a female hard rock band in the 70s. They were noticed for their rebellious lyrics and punkish design. The band did not enjoy much of a following within the United States. However, their fame grew internationally, particularly in Japan. Ford started her own heavy-metal career after the disbandment of her band in 1979. Her debut album as a solo artist was 'Dancin' on the Edge which was followed by her record Out for Blood. Both the albums did not get much attention and Ford disappeared out of the scene for a couple of years. The smash-hit album "Lita" was launched by Ford in 1988. Kiss Me Deadly, and Close My Eyes Forever both were huge hits. Unfortunately her success was short-lived and she was absent from the music industry for a few years. Then she returned after the release of 'Black in 1995, and then 'Wicked Wonderland' about 15 years later. 2016 saw the release of her most recent studio album "Time Capsule". Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
